Beautiful Trouble is a book, web toolbox, and international network of artist-activist trainers that seeks to make grassroots movements more creative and more effective. The book has been translated into French, German, Russian, Turkish, Spanish, Portuguese, and Canadian; new modules are being published to the website regularly.
I serve as Beautiful Trouble's Editorial Director, working alongside a merry band of ne'er-do-wells. I have delivered workshops and presentations on the book's core concepts to several organizations including Amnesty International, the Council of Canadians, and the National Farmers Union. My 2013 TED talk deals primarily with the Beautiful Trouble project.
The project has spawned two further projects in which I've played a key production role: a solutions-focused toolkit called Beautiful Solutions and a Global South-focused follow-up called Beautiful Rising.
